Chili ‘Madame Jeanette’ (Capsicum chinense) is a well-known Surinamese chili variety that combines strong heat with a tropical, fruity aroma. The smooth, yellow, pear-shaped fruits grow to about 4–6 cm in size.
Madame Jeanette is especially known in Surinamese cuisine, where it is used in traditional dishes such as roti, masala dishes and stews. This chili adds intense heat and an aromatic flavour to food.
The variety grows best in a warm location and is suitable for greenhouses or a sheltered, sunny outdoor spot. It can also be grown in a large pot.
